Snop Bar, Ratchada Soi 4
OK I did end up going out with my mates last Friday and agreed to meet up in Ekamai (again) but before that we went down Sukhumvit past Asoke to Ratchada soi 4 to check this Snop bar out for a bit. We got there a bit late thanks to heavy traffic and only had a few beers but we were there long enough for me to come back with a brief review and, yes, some wicked pictures. Here’s the review:
The decor: Snop has been around for years but has only recently relocated to the new premises located right next to the main Ratchada road. The new premises are a grand two storey building with a massive hall on the top floor easily accessible by an escalator downstairs. The whole thing looks impressive enough from outside thanks to all the nice light works making it the most recogniseable bar in Ratchada soi 4. The interior is also equally impressive with the table settings neatly arranged and a couple of designated smoking areas conveniently located around the hall.
The music: Live Thai music supplemented by hip hop tunes every hour or so.
The crowds: Various but we thought party goers here were relatively friendly and seemed to enjoy themselves more with few signs of awkwardness. We saw quite a few kids on a crew cut and also ladyboys in packs looking particularly confident of their ability to charm the men. When we arrived, it was busy enough but thankfully there’s still some breathing and walking space for everyone.
The price: Beer (Heineken) - 120 baht. We didn’t have enough time and funds to buy whiskey. Sorry!
Right, here’s some nice pics of the bar. Enjoy!

This probably is going to be my only review on bars in Ratchada soi 4 because, to be brutally honest, the other bars are simply shite and as a result I won’t be going back there, although in future I might write a couple of reviews on those cool clubs located in the back of the Esplanade shopping mall opposite soi4. So do stay tuned!
*PS* Friday was bloody good fun and everyone thought I got quite lucky in the end, although I reckon it was more down to my own effort and charm. Can’t go into too much detail but I really thought I did hit the 888 jackpot hahaha!
How was your weekend? Did you get lucky too?

Tom,
Great blog. Just something on ufo8mydog’s comment . . . I thought this was going to be a blog written by a Thai Girl. I thought Thai-ger was a play on the way Thais say Thai Girl. Of course, the unintended humor in hearing Thai Girl pronounced like Tiger is the fact that many of them can be as dangerous as a tiger
Cheer,
Billy
