Flix Club, RCA
On my previous post I mentioned starting my night out with a mate in Flix, RCA so today I thought why not write another post on it since after all Flix is one of the best bars in this zone and also quite popular amongst clubbers of all sorts. If you haven’t been to or even heard of Flix, you might like to check it out:
The club: brash 2 zone, funky-looking partying colossus with a respectable amount of room for dancing, all cast in rather modernist glass and steel. As I say the decor is real funky and there’s a cool bar at which to comfortably kick back and fellow clubbers watch from. On the ground floor also lies a table service while the balcony is ideal if you want to view the whole thing all at once.
The music: this place typically plays proper house, funky house and techno. I don’t go to RCA that often but when I do, it’s usually Flix that I end up in. It’s mainly because of the music that can actually sometimes be hard to come by in Bangers if you know what I mean.
The crowd: I’m not suggesting you get trouble in other RCA clubs but I tend to find that there’s a street more laid back crowd in Flix who genuinely come to dance and enjoy themselves, whereas in some other clubs you get quite a few posers.
The price: Whiskey (Black Label) - 2000 baht, Mixer - 60 baht, Beer - 160 baht
And here’s what the place looks like:

Flix is one of my favourite bars in RCA. At weekends, it can get busy and packed but then again it’s like this pretty much everywhere you go in Bangkok. And from time to time, they do have cool special night events with guest DJs from the West and Japan too so if you fancy some proper funky dance stuff in Bangkok you know where Flix is!

I’ve been told that Farangs can quickly get in trouble in this club, if they happen to stumble upon a few thai guys in mood for a fight, but I have never been there. What is your opinion on that?

Yeah that’s what I’ve heard too. Apparently you have to be particularly careful with some Thai men, especially those older, cocky-looking, well dressed ones - they don’t entertain the idea of you talking to girls they’re interested in and sometimes even get jealous and wanna start a fight with you.
Last Saturday in Flix I was stood by the DJ box with a mate and this twat walked up to me and said he wanted us to piss off cos he and his many mates were trying to check out the girls behind us. What a bunch of cunts!
My best advice is to avoid a fight with Thai men at all costs however confident you’re of beating them - I’m not telling you to be a coward but it’s not your country and you never what they’ve got installed for you so be sensible and avoid/ignore them!

Hi Tom,
First of all: Great Blog! Fantastic to find all the latest info on the BKK club scene. Especially useful for people like me which regulary spend their holidays in Thailand and want their rare BKK weekends to be well-prepared. I have been to Flix often (last time was in April), so memories come to my mind when seeing those pics…
For my next BKK-party-weekend in November I have chosen Inch Bar for Friday evening and on Saturday I will check out Jet Club and the Thonglor/Ekamai scene…just cant wait to get there!
But here is a suggestion to make the Blog even better: How about a category for after-hour-clubbing (after 2 a.m.) in BKK? I know the scene is changing frequently with the men in brown closing down places from time-to-time and varying opening times. Would be perfect to have reviews like the ones in category “bars” for the after-hour-scene as well. You could also keep it more general, like “Where to go after 2 am?”, and include pool/snooker places and other after 2 am activities. People could enter comments for the introduced places regarding the latest info on opening times as well.
One more question: Will also be in BKK on December 5 (Kings birthday). Actually, it will be my last night before going home. Any info on the alcohol ban this year? Will clubs be open? I heard the king has recently announced in a speech that he would see no reason for the alcohol ban on his birthday. Any idea where I could spend the night having fun?
Keep it going, Tom! Fantastic site.

hi alex!
first and foremost thanks for your kind words for my blog - they’re much appreciated.
as for your suggestion, i think it’s a good idea and i will sure have a think about it and let you know. i know a couple of after hours clubs and things to do after so perhaps some info on this will be a great addition as per your advice.
about the king’s birthday, im not entirely certain if the alcohol ban will be imposed. hopefully not cos we all love the king and want to go out and celebrate his big day dont we! anyway just stay tuned and any update on this i will sure let you know.
thanks again mate. auf wiedersehen!

[...] as expected it was so, so busy. Not too long after I arrived, we heard there was a police raid in Flix bar next door and although it wasn’t going to affect anyone in Slim we thought it’s [...]

I’ve been to Flix many times. Great music, mostly young crowd with occasional groups of Thai mafia - you can always spot them - old men with bodyguards and whores in tow, reserved tables and the staff treat them like VIP’s. However, I’ve never seen any problems there, but I always go with Thai girls, so I’m not on the lookout for anyone. Fantastic Western show dancers, gets VERY busy from about midnight.
